Luke Combs Opens Up About His 'Particularly Wicked' Form of OCD

Luke Combs recently revealed that he experienced one of the most intense anxiety flare-ups he's had in years, triggered by a rare mental health condition.
The 35-year-old country star has openly discussed his lifelong battle with purely obsessional OCD, a subtype of obsessive-compulsive disorder that he describes as "particularly wicked."
While many associate OCD with compulsive behaviors, such as flicking lights, Combs explained in a recent 60 Minutes interview that his condition doesn’t involve visible actions. Instead, it manifests as crippling anxiety.
"The craziness of the particular disorder that I have is in how you get out of it," Combs told interviewer Adam Hegarty in a video posted last month. "It doesn’t matter what the thoughts even are. Giving any attention to them is irrelevant and only fuels more of them."

DOGE’s Rise Is Driving America’s Public Health Officials Crazy

On a narrow road within the main campus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stands Building 21, the crescent-shaped headquarters of America’s leading public health agency. In a room lined with television screens, researchers closely monitor the measles outbreak that claimed the life of a second American in the southern plains last week, as well as the bird flu epidemic currently affecting flocks across every state. The agency’s leadership occupies the 12th floor, and military-grade security ensures that only authorized visitors and the CDC’s local workforce of approximately 5,000 civil servants are granted access.

Captain America: Brave New World' Set to Outperform the Original Film at the Box Office

After three weeks, Captain America: Brave New World has finally surpassed Captain America: The First Avenger in box office earnings. The superhero film is on track to exceed The First Avenger’s domestic lifetime total by Monday but has already outpaced it globally. While Brave New World remains one of the lower-grossing films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—the most successful film franchise in history—it is slowly emerging from a pool of underperforming releases.
With $176.5 million domestically and $370.7 million globally, Brave New World is just $100,000 away from surpassing The First Avenger in domestic earnings but has already exceeded its worldwide total. Released in 2011 as part of the MCU's Phase One, The First Avenger concluded its global run with around $370.6 million—disappointing considering its $150 million budget. However, fans appreciated Chris Evans in the lead role, and the film's reputation has grown since its release. Still, given that the movie came out 14 years ago, surpassing its lifetime earnings isn't as significant an achievement as it may seem.
Brave New World is the first Captain America film to feature Anthony Mackie as the central character. Mackie first appeared in the MCU in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), which grossed over $250 million domestically and more than $700 million worldwide. He returned in Captain America: Civil War (2016), which grossed over $1.1 billion globally and more than $400 million in the U.S. Civil War remains the highest-grossing film in the series. Mackie was officially named the new Captain America in Avengers: Endgame (2019), which earned over $2.7 billion globally.
Unlike its predecessors, Brave New World opened to poor reviews, holding a "rotten" 48% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it is also less expensive than recent MCU releases like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, and Thor: Love and Thunder. Directed by Julius Onah, Brave New World had an estimated production budget of $180 million and features Harrison Ford in a prominent role. While the film has taken advantage of an open market, its earnings will likely slow as its run continues. For now, Brave New World is still playing in theaters, with more updates to come.
