Cinco de Mayo: A Tribute to Mexican Identity and Enduring Strength

Cinco de Mayo celebrations are unfolding across the U.S., filled with music, tacos, tequila, and vibrant tributes to Mexican culture—even if not all elements are strictly authentic.
Since the holiday falls on a Monday this year, most festivities took place over the weekend. In California, home to a large Mexican American community, events ranged from art exhibitions and classic car shows to parades and food truck gatherings.
In Austin, Texas, celebrations included family-friendly photo ops with characters from Disney’s Encanto—a film rooted in Colombian culture but widely embraced as a celebration of Latino heritage. On Monday, a luncheon featuring speakers discussing the significance of Cinco de Mayo and the contributions of Mexican Americans in Austin was also scheduled.

Children’s Health at Risk Under Trump’s Watch

In March 2025, the U.S. announced it would withdraw support from international public health initiatives that have vaccinated millions of children around the world—a significant setback for global child health. This decision follows earlier cuts by the Trump administration to USAID programs that provided essential nutrition to hundreds of thousands of children globally.
These moves may suggest that current U.S. leadership no longer sees a responsibility to care for children beyond its borders. But the pattern extends domestically as well: the administration is also signaling plans to scale back the Vaccines for Children program, which plays a crucial role in preventing disease among children in the U.S. The message is clear—whether abroad or at home, children’s health is no longer a policy priority.

Jen Aniston’s Security Breach: Man Crashes Car Through Her Front Gate

A man has been arrested after driving his car through the gate of a property believed to belong to actress Jennifer Aniston, according to online records.
Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday at approximately 12:20 p.m. PT, on the 900 block of Airole Way in Bel Air, an upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles.
Lee stated that police responded to a report of a “burglary suspect” who had “driven his vehicle through the gate” of the residence.
Officer David Cuellar later informed CNN that Aniston was present at the home during the incident.
A security guard at the property managed to detain the suspect, described as a white male in his 70s, until LAPD officers arrived. The man was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the act was intentional or accidental, Lee noted.
CNN has reached out to Aniston’s representative for comment.
Aniston, who is widely recognized for her role in Friends, has previously shared her passion for architecture and design, particularly in relation to the renovations she’s made to her Bel Air home. In a 2018 interview with Architectural Digest, she revealed that if she weren't an actress, she would have pursued a career in design. “I love the process,” she said. “There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul.”
