Resilient Leadership: Breaking Through the Walls of Adversity

Source: LinkedIn
Resilient leaders know that true strength lies in bouncing back from setbacks. Resilience is about finding happiness or success after a challenge.
Pastor Charles Swindoll wisely noted, “Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.” While inspirational quotes are nice, they don’t replace the real work needed when life throws us curveballs.
Reflecting on personal experiences, I've encountered moments that felt like hitting an impenetrable wall—yet those “wtf moments” often paved the way for future success. These could be job losses, personal changes, or even positive events that feel overwhelming.
Take my son’s recent experience at a national football event. Despite initial struggles and self-doubt, he demonstrated resilience by adjusting his focus and ultimately performing well. His progress was supported by his family and peers, showcasing that resilience thrives with encouragement and support.
In those challenging “wtf moments,” instead of pushing against the wall, choose to focus on what you want and how to achieve it. Plan your steps and move forward.
Resilient leaders don't settle for less or let setbacks define them. They keep striving, adapting, and thriving. Embrace your challenges and lead boldly. Live dangerously, be you, and keep pushing forward.

Unlocking Mental Health: What a U.S. Olympians’ Psychologist Recommends

Source: NBC Olympics
During a recent interview with Dr. Kweku Smith, a psychological services provider for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, I found myself on the other side of the questioning. When asked about my first visit to the dentist, I hesitated. My mind wandered back to childhood memories of my pediatric dentist: the aquarium in the waiting room, the wall of manila folders behind the reception desk, and the distinct smell of bubble gum fluoride in the air. Despite these vivid recollections, I couldn't pinpoint my very first visit, as dental checkups have been a regular part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Dr. Smith, who is preparing for his first Olympics and Paralympics in Paris as a mental health care provider for Team USA, drew an interesting parallel. He pointed out that pediatric dentists make visits enjoyable and help children form a positive relationship with dental care, making regular appointments less daunting as adults. Similarly, he believes mental health care should be approached with the same proactive mindset.
“Most people view mental health as an illness or diagnosis,” Smith told Fortune. “But what if we treated it as a wellness practice?”
Smith advocates for integrating mental health check-ins into regular routines, much like dental visits. He and his team are available 24/7 during the Games for emergencies, but he emphasizes the importance of maintaining mental wellness even when things are going well. His advice for the general public mirrors this approach: prioritize mental health proactively, rather than only seeking help during crises.

Jennifer Garner Trapped for Over an Hour: Comic Con Elevator Incident

Source: Wikipedia
Jennifer Garner's first San Diego Comic Con experience almost turned into a disaster when she got stuck in an elevator for over an hour. There to support her cameo in "Deadpool and Wolverine," Garner shared the ordeal on Instagram, humorously noting it as "Baby’s first Comic Con: a short story."
In her videos, Garner humorously asked for help from Wolverine and Deadpool while waiting for rescue. As time dragged on, she even started singing Madonna’s "Like A Prayer," a nod to her film. Despite the elevator snafu, Garner made it to the Hall H screening of "Deadpool and Wolverine" on Thursday, where she joined other surprise cameo stars on stage.
