King Charles Praises ‘Resilience’ Over ‘Aggression’ in Riots Amidst Delayed Criticism
Source: WWBL
On Friday, King Charles III praised the "resilience" of many individuals who demonstrated community spirit during recent severe unrest in the UK, which overshadowed the "aggression" and "criminality" of a minority involved. The king faced criticism for his delayed response to the riots that erupted after the stabbing deaths of three young girls on July 29 and subsequent misinformation. While the royal family is currently on their annual summer break in Scotland, the king expressed his admiration for the compassionate response from the community and his hope that shared values will continue to unite the nation. He also extended his gratitude to the police and emergency services working to restore order. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced plans for a specialized police force and increased judicial measures to address the violence that has affected cities across the UK, with a firm stance against attacks on communities.

Olive Oil's Surprising Impact on Health Uncovered in New Study

Switching from an omnivorous diet to one rich in nuts, fruits, and vegetables can effectively lower body fat levels for those at risk of heart disease. However, adding extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) to this diet might not always be beneficial. Researchers from the University of Florida and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases examined the impact of EVOO on plant-based diets for individuals at risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. While EVOO is often promoted for reducing cholesterol, its effect when added to a low-fat, whole-food plant-based diet remains unclear.
In their study, 40 adults followed a vegan diet for eight weeks, with half of them consuming an extra four teaspoons of EVOO daily and the other half consuming little to no EVOO. Both diets improved cardiometabolic profiles, but the sequence of the diets influenced LDL cholesterol levels. Starting with high EVOO and switching to low EVOO led to a drop in LDL cholesterol, while the reverse sequence impeded LDL reduction. The researchers suggest that the small amounts of saturated fat in EVOO might affect LDL processing, potentially increasing heart disease risk.
Overall, the study indicates that reducing EVOO intake might be beneficial for those at high risk of heart disease, though further research with larger groups and longer durations is needed to confirm these findings.
