Despite its viral status, sleep specialist Dr. Fariha Abbasi-Feinberg suggests that trying the mocktail with a low dose of magnesium might be safe, though she advises starting with a smaller amount.
However, Dr. Abbasi-Feinberg, director of sleep medicine at Millennium Physician Group, and other experts emphasize the lack of robust scientific evidence supporting magnesium's effectiveness for sleep.
